Cubs Set To Pursue Zimmerman Despite Allegations

The Chicago Cubs are looking to bolster their pitching with offseason acquisitions, and they may need to look no further than neighboring Wisconsin native Jordan Zimmerman. The righty had a bit of a down year for the struggling Nationals this year after being a Cy Young candidate in 2014, posting a 13-10 record with a 3.66 ERA. The Cubs are willing to look past that stumble, however, in an attempt to add another proven right-hander to their rotation. But will they be able to look past the allegations that Zimmerman is a bit of a strange fellow with a drinking problem? Reports have surfaced that J Zim has been hitting the sauce a bit too much and behaving erratically in the clubhouse. One such rumor paints Zimmerman as a "serial pooper" who has been leaving his "number 2s" in teammates' lockers when nobody is looking and then laughing uncontrollably when the mystery deuces are found. Joe Maddon loves locker room antics as much as the next guy, but will he be able to tolerate such wild behavior? Stay tuned as we update this story...

BREAKING: Adam Schefter Reports Darren Mcfadden Suffers Season-ending Injury

Just minutes after being named the starter at running back for the Cowboys, Darren Mcfadden tore his ACL in practice Wednesday. Coach Jason Garrett wouldn't elaborate too much until doctors evaluated Mcfadden, but it appears that his season and possibly his career are finished at this point. A spokesman for Mcfadden said that the running back is "devastated". More on this story as it develops.

Back... To The REAL Future

Now that the Cubs new era is solidly in place: let's look ahead at some of the options we have moving forward as we build our dynasty:

1. Trade for Aroldis Chapman. -Chapman has always been a thorn in the Cubs side. As a division opponent, he has sway over at least 5 games a year. He is reportedly unhappy with Manager Bryan Price and rumors have it that they have had it out on several occasions.

2. Sign Zack Greinke- we need another quality starter. He is about as good as it gets. Notice the theme here? Pitching, pitching, pitching. The only question is, will he get along with the rest of the staff? Reports have surfaced that he's a bit of a loner who likes to read books on his off days, even while the game is going on. This won't sit well with some of the Cubbies' arms.

3. Bats- where will our power come from next year? With the core group poised to continue right where it left off, consistency will be the key. Jason Heyward will come with a hefty price tag if the Cubs look to bolster their batting. A guy like Jay Bruce might bring some more power, but is he consistent enough? Some people in the know have suggested that Prince Fielder might want to seek employment elsewhere. Apparently he has been dieting, has already lost 20 pounds since the playoffs, and is looking to start fresh with an NL contender as an every day player. Could Anthony Rizzo give up time at first and play a little outfield? Probably so, if the right situation called for it.
